Artist’s Statement

I have never considered the simple act of pressing the shutter on a camera art. Evoking emotion and storytelling through light, perspective and composition is the bedrock of my work. Akin to the nails and support beams that hold up a house, my camera and lenses are merely mandatory pieces of hardware required to complete the task at hand. I am the architect of my art and the blueprint is manifested in my mind.

Bio

Adam Stunkel (1988) is a nature and wildlife photographer living in Seattle, WA. Adam’s love of nature and art was born atop a sleepy gravel road winding through an expansive deciduous forest in central Illinois. Here, at his grandparents mudroom table, he would spend hours sketching and painting the native birds visiting the feeders at an ancient white oak. After a decade of competitive sports and finding his way in life, Adam’s love for nature and art resurfaced in the form of digital fine art photography. Adam loves the quiet of true wilderness, craft beer, runner’s high and Chicago sports. The greatest game ever played was on a Wednesday in Cleveland.
